Include Fire Alarm and Security System Monitoring In Your Blue Prints

Architects, engineers and contractors know that it's smart to include fire alarm systems and security alarm systems in their plans, whether it's a new build, a renovation or a retrofit.  A step some may miss is including what's necessary for systems connectivity and monitoring, either by the owner's security company or by monitoring service providers, like us.

We're happy to meet with teams during their design phase to provide guidance or a quote regarding connectivity and monitoring.

Who answers the elevator emergency alarm button?

Did you know that frequently an elevator's emergency call button is linked to the Superintendent of the building and not to an emergency responder?  It's true.  Staff, visitors, and residents are often relying on one person to be available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Our professional monitoring service takes away the constant stress and worry for Superintendents who want a healthy life balance.  A service like ours can give you and your fellow residents peace of mind that should a situation arise our team is awake, alert and ready to respond quickly.

"Do I need professional home security monitoring system?"

This question was asked in a recent USNews.com article  and journalist Stewart Wolpin responded:

"Generally speaking, home security professionals recommend professional monitoring over self-monitoring because professional monitoring is safer for several reasons. A primary reason is that you can't monitor your system when you're asleep, in the shower, etc. Additional reasons to consider professional monitoring include:

  • You live in a house with multiple entrances, especially sliding doors. The more rooms, entrances, and windows you have to equip with sensors and cameras, the harder it is to monitor them all by yourself.

  • You have a large home. Professionally monitored systems can be set up to watch what's happening throughout your home. For example, if something is amiss downstairs while you're upstairs, you might not be aware of a problem, but the monitoring center will be able to quickly alert authorities.

  • You are frequently away from home. When you're away from your primary residence, you may not always have an internet connection, and thus you may not be able to respond to an alert or even get one in the first place. Additionally, it can be difficult to confirm a problem you're alerted to while self-monitoring. A professional monitoring service can verify an issue if it arises regardless of where you are at the time.

...Most security experts recommend professional monitoring because self-monitoring poses significant safety risks, primarily because it's impossible to monitor your own security system 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

...The primary reason you might decline professional monitoring is to avoid monthly fees. However, according to the Insurance Information Institute, many homeowners insurance companies provide a discount if you have a professionally monitored home security system, which will help defray monitoring costs."
